Navy Nabs 2 Oil Vandals

Naval authority in Lagos yesterday handed over two suspected petroleum pipeline vandals and ten 50 litres plastic jerrry cans containing petroleum to the police in Apapa.

The suspects who were arrested in a riverine community known as Ikate, a small fishing settlement in Takwabay end of the metropolis, were said to belong to a team of vandals wo specialised in breaking into Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline which runs across the area from Atlas Cove to Mosemi, both in Lagos and Ogun States respectively in search of petroleum product.

The duo were at the verge of selling the product which they have successfully pumped into over ten 50 litres plastic jerry cans with the aid of pumping machine when they were arrested by the naval officers who were on patrol of the area.

Though, a good number of the vandals were said to have fled when they sighted the Naval officers, luck ran out of the suspects identified as John Nana and Mohammed Sarumi as they attempted to jump into a waiting speed boat.
